Search for new VPD Police Chief almost done. May, 16 2007 - 9:40 AM VANCOUVER/CKNW - The candidates for Vancouver's new police chief could be whittled down this afternoon during a closed door police board meeting. The man leaving the job this August is looking forward to being replaced. Chief Jamie Graham says he doesn't know if his successor will come from within the department. "We have a number of very competent people that are in executive positions in the organization. It's going to be a difficult choice, but i mean, what a wonderful choice to have to make? Would you like to see it be somebody from within the VPD? You know, I'm going to let the search committee decide that and we'll see. I know that they'll pick the right person." Graham says he's heard at least two of his deputy chiefs are in the running. A total of six applicants are being considered for the job.
