VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - The Pivot Legal Society is not happy after Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan, in his capacity as Chair of the Police Board, dismissed a two-part complaint against Police Chief Jamie Graham.
David Eby with Pivot says in 2003 Pivot filed numerous complaints with the office of the Police Complaints Commissioner alleging misconduct by Vancouver cops. Eby says a report by the RCMP criticized officers who appeared to be obstructing the investigation, while Chief Jamie Graham allegedly refused to order his officers to cooperate.
Eby says Pivot launched a second complaint against Graham and the officers, but that was dismissed today by Mayor Sullivan, "It's been a year and four months for the Mayor to decide that he wasn't going to investigate the Chief on this and we kind of end up in an anomalous situation where the junior officers are being investigated while the Chief is not being investigated."
Eby says they plan to ask the Police Complaints Commissioner to review Sullivan's decision.
